Non-verbal communication

IMG_0639

Lance has really ramped up his walking this past week.  He can make it all the way across the room now.  He’s also learned how to communicate non-verbally.  He gets out the pretzels at least twice a day and carries, pushes, rolls them to us.  He knows exactly what he wants :)

Cecy cooking.  She always wants to help Mommy, especially with the stirring, and making smoothies.

Cecy with our Christmas tree.  Daddy cut it down.  Mommy and Cecy decorated it.  Dr. Seus wants it back.

Now current

I would post vacation pictures here from the beach last week, but I didn’t take any.  Here is my only trip picture:

IMG_0489

We did have a great time in North Carolina.  We worked on our tans at the beach, Keith worked on a burn.  We played with the cousins, and spent time just hanging out with the family.  It was also nice to be on the beach when it had already snowed here in Alaska.

Here’s Cecy’s “beach dress” for our color coordinated photography experience.  Pictures to come (eventually).IMG_0468

New dress up clothes from Grandma.  They fit monkeys too!

This picture is from hunting season last month.  Anyone hungry?  I think we might have enough to share…

Good lighting and a cute baby model

IMG_0384

It was a beautiful sunny evening in Healy, Alaska, so I sent my photographer out to get some pictures of the cute baby that wandered into our yard.

IMG_0387

He crawls, he stands, he terrorizes three year old girls, and is surprisingly gentle with baby girls.  I think we’ll keep him :)  We’ll keep the photographer too.

Cecy says…

I’ve really been enjoying the things Cecelia says lately.  Some of these may be things you didn’t know, like Keith’s real name…

“What’s Mommy’s name?”

“Jessie, like the girl in the movie.”

“What’s Daddy’s name?”

“Buzz”

“Where does Daddy work?”

“At the mine, like the dwarves”

Yes, Daddy’s very proud of being compared to the singing dwarves who have the most unusual mine ever (I would love some pre-cut gems to mine).

Also, this morning:

“Cecy’s such a big girl.”

“No, I’m not a big girl!  I’m a princess.”

We’re having a great Alaskan summer.  Which means that we’re very busy: working (Keith), playing (the kids), and trying to get a tan with as much time outside as possible (Mommy).

Lance has also messed with the order of Cecelia’s perfect world by crawling.  He’s very happy with himself, and Cecelia runs around trying to make sure he doesn’t get things.  They’re working it out…

IMG_0322

We also had my dad and step-mom up visiting from Arizona.  We went on a boat trip which has Cecy growling like a sea lion and eating (mommy) fish.

IMG_0334IMG_0338While on vacation in Valdez we managed to capture the only picture of our whole family so far!

IMG_0349 Hope you’re all having a good summer too (and not doing things like learning how to ski when you should be enjoying warmth and sunshine)!

Switched at birth…

Evidence that our children are all mixed up.  My older sister’s daughter looks like me, and my daughter likes to pretend she’s a cat, and therefore should belong to Valerie (who used to do the same).

IMG_1436

IMG_1437

And yes, that’s her tail.  She got very upset a few weeks ago when Daddy didn’t understand what she wanted him to do when she said that she wanted a tail.

IMG_1430

I also came upon my daughter one night to find her loading bullets.  That does not seem right, but her choice in clothing pleases me, so all is forgiven.

IMG_1400

In other news, we were attacked by a dragon.  It stormed the fortress assisted by Princess Cecelia.  Our little knight, Lance, did not show any fear and soon had the dragon vanquished.

We’re just enjoying our summer weather, playing outside a lot, and swatting mosquitoes.   Aside from those pesky little buggers, it’s great to be in Alaska in the summertime!

A plethora of Lance pictures

002 It’s all about the accessories!

IMG_1298 “I wanna be like daddy…or maybe a white rapper.”

IMG_1307 Cecy now brings me her pictures when she’s done coloring and announces “that’s pretty!”

IMG_1320 Big smiles

Mommy has big smiles too as winter is almost over, and we’ll be in Arizona by the beginning of next week and thereby miss the rest of it.  So, spring (and summer) are in the air!  We’re already enjoying longer days and walks with the stroller.  The walk duration will exceed 15 minutes once the temperature exceeds 30 degrees-that’s not to much to ask!

Alright, I hope you’re all having a great spring too.

What our new car says about us…

This weekend we gave my car some growth hormones, parked it in the garage, and waited for them to set in.  In the morning my car had changed from blue to red, grown in height and length, and dropped ten years.

Keith and I were thinking really hard about what this new vehicle says about us:

“I’m taken.”

“I’m not only taken, but you’re at least five years too late.”

“We’re committed to having more kids.”

“Where can I buy those stick figure family decals?”

“Our kids will play soccer (or in our town, hockey).”

Without further ado, here is the newest member of our garage.  We’re still considering names…

Cinderella gets around

I’m happy to say that we’re all about the princesses here.  I even have my own Rapunzel doll too, thanks to Valerie for supporting my girly whims.

Cecelia loves her Cinderella doll.  It goes shopping, they dress up together, and she even practices rolling over with baby Lance.  So does Cecelia.  Sometimes she even tries to roll Lance over by herself.  We don’t encourage that…

Happy Birthday to us

Yes, Keith and I are now each a year older.  If you don’t know how old, I’m not telling.  We each celebrated our birthdays in January.  I think Cecelia was getting used to our eating cake and blowing out candles.  Pretty much we ate yummy food, consumed delicious deserts, and then I had an excuse to bend Keith to my will and have him play board games.  Good times.  Good times.

We’re Back!

This can be taken one of two ways: first we’re home from our annual Arizona vacation, and second, I’m blogging again after a month and a half absence.  So, here come the pictures:

hawaii 402

We spent a lot of time at playgrounds!  One playground had a carousel and a train.  I really enjoyed both!!!  Okay, maybe I let Cecelia ride too, sometimes…

I think the highlight of Cecelia’s trip was getting “pretty toes” with Aunt Katrina and Mommy.  She kept taking off her shoes and walking around just admiring her feet.

IMG_1057

We also went to the zoo.  We saw monkeys, elephants, giraffes, wallabies, and koala bears.

hawaii 509

Cecelia enjoyed playing with her cousin, “Baby Sam”.   And I enjoyed seeing my prettier sister, Cassandra.

IMG_1089

Lance enjoyed the sunshine, and continues to grow bigger.  Strangers kept coming up to me and telling me how “healthy” he looked.  I think it’s code for fat.  He did well on his first flying experience.

hawaii 473

Cecelia did well too.  With the help of gummy bears she stayed in her seat with her seat belt on.  She also pulled her own Belle suitcase through the airport.  It was precious!

While I am especially missing the warmth and sunshine, we are happy to be back home with Daddy- who is now officially 27 this week.
