We flew down to Utah and drove around Colorado over Thanksgiving.

Lots of swimming, some rock climbing, and of course, hours in the car :)

New Moon

Keith and I went to see New Moon this weekend.  We absolutely loved it.  Keith said that he enjoyed being in on a trend for the first time in his life.  He also said that since his job is 2 parts manliness as a coal miner, he could handle the 1 part girliness of this movie, and still be a man.

All joking aside, we had a great time, especially with the audiences reactions.  Who knew that if a 17 year old walked around with his shirt off it would cause hoots and hollers.  I don’t know of any 17 year olds that were that worth it when I was that age!

Pumpkin treats, a duck, and me

 October 2009 045

We did our pumpkin carving together before Halloween.  Cecelia didn’t really like the feel of the pumpkin’s insides, but she still contributed to the process by dropping baby treats into our Jack-O-Lantern.  I’m sure the pumpkin gods appreciated that offering.

For Halloween we dressed up as a duck, a witch, and a peasant (not pictured).  It went with a scene out of Monty Python.  The best part of Cecelia’s costume was how she waddled when she walked in it.

The coloring for her beak only lasted a few minutes…

Musical prodigy

Okay, maybe calling her a prodigy is exaggerating a bit, but Cecelia loves music.  She dances, she sings little nonsensical songs, and she loves playing the piano at Grandma’s.HPIM0924

Last night Cecelia even starting spinning around in circles to dance.  We think she’s amazing.

Keith just took a big engineering test this weekend (eight mind numbing hours).  He’s just itching to get outdoors to relax now.

We’re looking forward to Halloween: parties, costumes, and candy.  Hope you all have a great time with all of the above too :)

Ah, it feels like summer…

It’s a wonderful 65 degrees here in Alaska.   I am beyond grateful for this totally unexpected extension to our summer.  It’s already snowed, the trees are bare, the rabbits are white, yet it’s a beautiful sunny day out.  I am just soooooo happy!

Here’s Cecelia torturing Gato, who was very patient with her at the time:

I also entered Cecelia in the Gap Casting Call.  Not that I expect to win, but prizes would be good.  You can vote for her at: http://family.go.com/gapcastingcall/entries/Jessielclark/334546637/

Thanks :)

Boo!

My camera 764

Cecelia’s getting so big, and long haired.  Having gotten her hair up in pigtails, I keep thinking how she looks like Boo from Monster’s Inc.  That would be a good costume idea for her-it’s a shame I already bought a different costume.

She even calls Keith “Kitty".  Okay, maybe not, but she is calling him “Da Da” now, and it brings a big goofy smile to Keith’s face.  Ah, the power!  Cecelia doesn’t even know that she possesses it…

Holiday Confusion

Snow 020

I just set up our Halloween decorations on Sunday.  I know, it’s still September, but it’s the end of September, and I LOVE Halloween.

So, we were getting in the Halloween spirit…and then today the snow came.  For those of you living in warm climates, or say, places where it’s not even fall yet, I don’t want to hear it!  The snow is really pretty, but it is September.

It’s also led to some holiday confusion.  Our apartment says Halloween, but the fluffy white stuff just screams “Christmas!”  My iPod caved in to all of the pressure and is now playing Christmas music.  What’s a girl to do?

Keith and Craig shot a bear-here’s Craig with it.  Sorry there weren’t any pictures that didn’t have any blood.Keith's 029

No longer a "Zero"

It was Cecelia's birthday yesterday. She has now reached the ripe old age of one.Yeah, I'm not a professional cake decorator, but it did look better before Keith cut it. The blob to the side is a "cat cat" Here's Cecelia after she ate her piece of cake. Not too messy. She really enjoyed grabbing cake and frosting in her little fists! I even didn't end up too goobered in my white shirt. Small victories...
Cinderella's carriage came to an accident. It might have been because Grover was driving. Can muppets get driver's licenses?

Cecelia and her cool new ball toy from Grandma and Grandpa-there's a fan that blows the balls us through the top, then they go back down the slide and run the circuit again. It's awesome!

Help around the House

Cecelia is very good at helping do the dishes. She prefers hand washing whereas, I like using the dishwasher.Cecelia helping me cook. She got out all the pots and pans that I needed.Cecelia taking an inventory of the diapers in her room.
"Yes, I think there may be enough..." Cecelia showing me that there are way too many things in the cupboard under the bathroom sink. Simplify, she says.
Cecelia's approaching her first birthday. In the last week she's gotten three new teeth. She has developed a fondness for putting things INTO containers instead of just dumping them out. She's learned how to open cupboards and that fun things are inside. She's also less afraid of strangers-or really all the strange people we know and associate with.

Cruisin' cruisin'

Cecelia's getting better and better at cruising around the apartment with the help of our furnature.
Her hair is also getting long enough to have fun with. He he he.

What happens when you turn your back...

Here are some things that might happen when you are not watching your baby for a few seconds:

She discovers CHOCOLATE!

She pulls out all of the wipes after she's finished her nap.
She opens and plays with the shoe polish that Daddy left on the coffee table. (He'd had trouble opening it, Cecelia did not).

And she eats Gato's cat food. I can't imagine why she'd like it-maybe it's the challenge of getting it from the cat's mouth...

Room in the Zoo?

I tried to take Cecelia to a place where she felt most comfortable. The zoo keepers would not let her stay in the cages to play with the animals though. Go figure!

We visited the animals, dressed up as lemurs, sacrificed Cecelia to a hungry dinosaur, and bought tickets to ride the carousel...you can tell that Cecelia really enjoyed that.

Getting Settled in Healy

Here's Cecelia and her best baby friend, Ally, at the park the day before we moved. They both love to pull their hats off, eat PB&J, watch Twilight wit their mommies, and eat grass. We miss Ally (and Ally's mommy) already.

Here's Cecelia's new room. Yes, she finally has her own room. Once again, it has a great view too. And Gato.

Keith went on a ski trip crossing Harding Ice Field. He came back with this beard. Unfortunately, someone who will not be named, made him shave it off.

Packing the baby

It's been a busy month, with the end of school for Keith (finally!), finishing up final projects at the elementary school for me, and getting ready for our big move.

First, Cecelia helped me pack a vase. She loves bubble wrap! Doesn't everyone?

Then Cecelia played in one of the boxes. We did not close it on her, like we did to my sister, Valerie.

My artistic side comes out when I am bored. The picture is Cecelia pulling Gato's tail-which she does on a regular basis.

Leonardo the Terrible Monster

Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems is my children's book recommendation for the month. My aunt and I read it on vacation, thanks to my sister, Rose. Leonardo is not very good at being a monster. His ambition to scare the tuna salad out of someone goes unrealized until he meets "scaredy-cat Sam." It's a funny book. We got Leonardo here for my sister for Christmas (if she's good). He gave it all he had, yet Cecelia was not scared.

In fact, Cecelia tried to bite poor Leonardo.

Hide and Go Seek

Keith and I like to play hide and go seek with Cecelia. A few months ago it was pretty easy to find her since she was always in my arms, or in Keith's arms if he was hiding her. Now that she can sit on her own the possibilities are endless! As limitless as they can be in a one bedroom apartment...

Wishful Thinking

This is one of Cecelia's cute summer outfits. It's very sunny here now. It looks so warm, until your eyes see all of the snow still on the ground. We're hoping it will melt soon. At least Cecelia and I can try out her summer wardrobe in Arizona in a few weeks. Can't wait!
